Web Designers And SharePoint
First I would like to thank you for reading this article. I am an IT manager from Sunnyvale in California. Today’s topic is about sharepoint. I wanted to write this article to share more about the technology. I started learning about this and other Microsoft products in my last job. This time, I helped install and implement the product. Let me explain how it works for you.
For the sake of examples, imagine you have your own web design company. You take in web design projects from clients all over. Your day to day activities would include managing the files, versions, people via email. SharePoint will actually help you manage all these documents and teams online easily and effectively.
Now let’s say that you are about to start a project. What will you need for this? Well you will need to define a team. The product suite will also help you do this. It is a web design interface that will help you manage all your content and help you define a team for the project. Let’s say you need to search for graphic designers. The software will be integrated to help you find this as well. You can then assign tasks to the team via the web interface.
Now you will need to monitor your team’s progress right? Well in the old days, you would have them attach documents to emails and send it to you, the project manager. Not anymore! SharePoint will actually let you view these documents electronically. There are no multiple versions to manager and you can see which team member did what. You can also assign changes in case something needs to be changed.
Isn’t the project going to be that much more productive? I think it’s a vital source for almost any business. I forgot to mention that you should receive notification when the project is complete. I really like this solution. It is very user-friendly and I think it can be applied to any process especially in say, a web design company. You can even customize this product and have it link to other places like Microsoft SQL in case there is data there that needs to be shared to other silo-ed teams around a company. Take a look at the product and let me know what you think!
